Vanguardia Walk the Walk for worthy cause

May 2015

Following an appeal from clients Walk the Walk to their contractors to raise funds for a scalp cooler, Vanguardia Consulting is pleased to support this appeal with a donation towards this worthy cause. As our client Walk the Walk states:“Walk the Walk are a grant making charity funding breast cancer related issues from research supporting all our future health, to integrated care supporting those with breast cancer now, and their families.

Losing your hair whilst undergoing chemotherapy is not life threatening, but it can be the most debilitating and distressing part of cancer for patients and for their close family. For the past 9 years Walk the Walk has been focussed on granting funds to NHS hospitals with the specific purpose of purchasing scalp coolers. These amazing machines help to retain a patients hair whilst undergoing treatment, and it turn can have a huge impact on recovery. To date Walk the Walk has funded over 550 scalp coolers to over 210 hospital throughout the UK, with a total grant funding of over £7 million, with the aim of ensuring all cancer patients have the choice of this treatment.”

With funds raised by Walk the Walk’s contractors and suppliers the aim is to put the first scalp cooler into the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury in Kent.

Vanguardia will also be assisting the annual Walk the Walk fund-raising Moonwalk event by undertaking the sound management for the event that takes place on Saturday 16th May 2015 at Clapham Common where approximately 13,000 participants will aim to raise £6 million for the fight against breast cancer.
